Turning Scars into Stars
Stars of Hope is an innovative and life-changing project designed to provide an opportunity to
individuals and groups of people to touch and change a life and/or family in Ugandan communities
where support is currently limited or unavailable. The project aims at creating a community and
network of ordinary people linked together by the desire to positively impact lives of children,
youth and their families living in difficult circumstances.
Uniquely designed for poor urban settings, this project recognizes ‘real stars’ who give hope to
others in need through:
Skills building by offering coaching and teaching valuable marketable skills;
Volunteering time to counsel, play, teach a class, advocate and organize activities for children
and youth in conflict with the law, in juvenile facilities and those incarcerated with their
Donation of relevant items in kind towards a specific cause or activity.
Ultimately, the goal of this initiative is inspiring new ways by ordinary people that positively change
lives one at a time while offering opportunities for individuals and groups to fulfill their individual
